Description

The scent of sewage burned the dark canine's nasal passages, and made him slightly nauseous. Phantom had lost count of how long they'd been there, but he still couldn't stand the sewers. He couldn't understand how Di Fonga could live down here so comfortably. Di Trieste's hotel was much more inviting. Down here, everything was dirty. He was used to dirt, sure. But sewage on the walls, by the food, and such? Ew! Not to mention the sewer rats. They grew bigger than the rats back at the hotel, and they were quite nasty. Not to mention they tasted foul- Phantom had tried some during a point in their stay.
Hoping a nice walk would help with his nausea, Phantom rose up from the warm blankets he had been snuggled in. He didn't even bother to shake out his fur or anything as he exited the doorway to the sleeping quarters. Not that he gave two shits. It was going to get dirty again anyways, and he certainly wasn't trying to impress anyone. Phantom could hear the echos of the abnormal activity within the tunnels of the sewer. There were three packs, one of which consisted entirely of pups, that were all stuck down here. Tension was high, and everyone was just tired, cold, and hungry.
The walking helped a bit, but not much. He hadn't eaten all day, because food was short. Honestly, he'd rather the food go to those who needed it more. But that was beside the point. As he headed down a tunnel, Phantom could hear the playful shrieks of the many puppies from all three packs that were kept together. Silently, he felt a bit sorry for the pups. They'd have to leave their new friends, and possibly face them in battle one day.  The thought brought back a memory that Phantom had been trying to keep locked away.
He suddenly had trouble breathing, and his chest hurt. Phantom felt a sudden dread, and his paws felt numb. The Capo Cane was forced to sit down to keep from falling over, and when he looked up, everything was spinning. Images flashed through his mind, causing distressed whines and cries from the lacky. Phantom didn't seem to hear the paw steps nearby as he fell over, and eventually blacked out.
When he woke up, he was laying in a bunch of blankets. Around him, puppies were snuggled around him- asleep. 'Nap time, eh?' But, he didn't remember coming to the puppies. Last Phantom remembered, he was walking through the sewers. A soft voice brought him from his thoughts as a tri-colored bitch eyed him over. Her gaze was blank, and her tone was rather cold. The brand on her shoulder confirmed that she was of Di Fonga. "So you're awake." "I- Uh.." Phantom suddenly felt intimidated, for an odd reason. So a simple nod gave his response.
Amusement danced in the odd Capo Cane's pale blue eyes. As she got up to walk over, he finally got a good look at her. She had enlarged dew claws, plus extra digets on her heels. The claws on her extra toes, and her dew claws, were so large that they touched the ground. Making a soft clicking sound as she walked. A massive tail, at least the length of her body, dragged across the ground behind her. Out of respect, Phantom lowered his head down as she approached him.
"Rise. You need not bow before me- it is my father that requires such respect." At the command, Phantom did so. Something finally clicked in his mind who this dog was. It was one of Mavro's children. Her words didn't ease his worries much. While she was younger than him, he was on /her/ territory. Not to mention that she was /Mavro's/ daughter. Heaven knows what could happen if she so much as didn't like the way he smelled.
The male couldn't help but noticed that this dog looked tired. As if she hadn't slept in awhile. Careful not to wake the puppies, Phantom slowly got up from under the puppy pile. Once he was free of the mound of blankets and puppies, the brute turned towards the lass. "Why don't you let me have a shift watching the puppies? Go rest." The bitch seemed to hesitate, but the thought of sleep quickly answered for her in a simple nod before walking towards the sleeping quarters. As she walked out of sight, Phantom sat down. His eye scanning back and forth over the puppies. They were so peaceful, so oblivious. So innocent..
Phantom hadn't kept track of how long he sat there, he must have doozed off day dreaming or something. However, the smell of food quickly caught his attention. With a narrow of his eye, the Capo Cane glanced towards the smell. Sure enough, there were a couple of dogs. They were more off to the corner of the 'puppy room', whispering to one another. Apparently they thought that whoever was watching the puppies must be deaf- or they just didn't even notice Phantom's presence. The male rotated his ear towards the two as he turned back towards the puppies.
Luckily, the two dogs hadn't notice the glance Phantom had cast in their direction.  By the smell of it, it was a Di Trieste and a Di Fonga. His eye narrowed slightly as he listened to the two. "So if I tell you.. It'll be mine?" "A whole deer for you, all you can eat. Plus a bonus.." The Di Fonga was a bitch, by the sounds of it. Out of the corner of his eye, Phantom could see her rubbing herself against the Di Trieste male like a cat in heat. The male Di Trieste began to whisper to the female. She sat down and listened with a sly smile, leaning against him and sometimes nibbling his throat.
The Capo Cane's ears strained to hear what was being said. What he did hear, however, did not please him in the slightest. Vincent would want to hear about this.. Some little snitch was going to give Di Fonga information? That would not be tolerated. Phantom glanced back towards the puppies as he stood up. They were still asleep.. Good. The Capo Cane made his way towards the control room, where the alphas- at least Vincent and Mavro- stayed. On the way, he made sure to assign a dog to look after the puppies.
When Phantom arrived, the two alphas were talking over some food. The lacky bowed his head, his ears set back and tail pulled against his underbelly in a form of submission. "Vincent, I wish to speak with you." The alpha narrowed his eyes, but got up with a nod. Vincent got up and led Phantom down a tunnel. Phantom swallowed nervously, but spoke up. "I spotted a Di Trieste dog sharing information with Di Fonga in exchange for some food. And.. Services..
Vincent didn't seemed surprised in the slightest. Simply gave a nod as he stared down at the lacky. For a moment, they walked in silence. Finally, Vincent stopped and turned towards Phantom. "Teach him a lesson." Phantom's eye widened, and his mouth opened to protest. Vincent simply raised an eyebrow, silencing any words Phantom would speak. With a hesitant, but curt nod, the lacky got up and began to trot down to the puppy room once more.
When Phantom got there, he noted that the two dogs began to head down a tunnel- away from the puppy room. The Di Fonga female rubbed against the Di Trieste male, cooing softly in his ear. "Let's go somewhere more private.." Phantom followed the two silently. They finally veered off into a small room. With a deep breath, Phantom began to make his entrance. His lips curled back, baring his teeth to the two canines. A snarl rumbled from his chest as he prowled towards the two.
Their eyes widened as they turned towards the lacky. A growl echoed through the room. "Just because we are down here together doesn't mean we are friends. You've no right to share Di Trieste's classified information with a Di Fonga dog." His head swung towards the female. "I'll let Mavro deal handle you.." Now Phantom turned back towards his own packmate. "As for you.. I'll show you what happens when you break Vincent's rules."
As Phantom lunged at the fellow Di Trieste dog, the Di Fonga bitch tried to make a run for it. However, Vincent stepped out infront of her, preventing her from escaping. Phantom slammed the dog into the concrete, his teeth tearing at his pelt. Blood splattered across the concrete floors and walls. Yelps and snarls filling the air. Vincent simply stood by and watched. Finally, the alpha let out a low bark. "Alright, Phantom. Enough.
At the call, Phantom stepped back. The Di Trieste dog lay withering on the ground in pain. Vincent narrowed his eyes coldly. "Let this be a lesson to you." With that, the alpha turned towards Phantom. "Go get yourself cleaned up." The lacky nodded and began to head off, leaving Vincent to deal with the Di Fonga dog. However, Vincent barked out. "By the way, congratulations!" Phantom instantly stopped and turned around, raising an eyebrow. Vincent gave a nod, before grabbing the Di Fonga bitch by the scruff to haul her off to Mavro. "On your rank up."
Phantom blinked in shock. He ranked up? A smile traced the now associate's bloody muzzle. Vincent gave a final nod to Phantom before hauling the shrieking Di Fonga dog off to Mavro. Now in a much better mood, Phantom turned and pranced off to go get himself cleaned up. His previous nausea was gone now, a dull memory as the capo went down to the water to wash himself off. Kicking someone's ass never felt so good.
